!#*! Happy 4th of July !#*!

Funerals really are insight to ones wake up call. I know this, because, I have been to 2 so far this month alone. I keep telling myself, we'll make it there one day, and then the procrastination sets in. Before we know it, it's to late. I'm kicking myself in the head. Whats the reason for the procrastination? Am I really THAT busy? My house work can wait. The park or the pool can wait too, right? In any essence, My step-grandpa was one of those funerals we went to. He was an Honest good man. I really liked him. I wish I had gotten to know him  more. I wish my kids had knew him more. Well on that thought-may he RIP.


We have been really busy though. We found out the Chicago Cubs were playing close to home, as in Kansas City close. We jumped on that wagon for sure. It was a rush deal, but we made it there. Someone, however, forgot to reserve our Hotel though-ah it was utter hell trying to find a hotel room somewhere close by. Duh-sold out stadium, all KC fans, ya right. After two hours we found a rinky dink crappy hotel. $71. OUCH! No pool, no breakfast, nothing. Babe-where did you take us! We just got lucky we even found a place, so no complaining here this time. The game was fun, HOT HOT HOT, but fun! They lost but at least we made it. We are planning something different for vacation this year so we weren't planning on seeing a game. It made my baby happy-and it was his BIRTHDAY on top of that! Happy B-day Baby!

July 1st was Alec's birthday. My baby boy turned 8 years old. Where does time go, really? I can remember the day he was born. It was the hardest day of my life and the best. I love being a mother, his mother! Well, I started something new this year. I decided I would get up early and make him a special breakfast. Chocolate chip pancakes. But this year-I had a thought. I will make them in the shape of an 8-for his age! Duh- Why didn't I think of that before? Here's some pictures:

He was excited and ate at least one whole one, and he rarely eats breakfast. Well the day went on, I had to work, and kids went to the sitter and when we got home we have a tradition, when it's your birthday, you get to pick where you want to eat. Alec picked Golden Corral. An all you can eat buffet. I'm not a big fan of that place, but that's what he picked so that's where we went. It was actually a nice time. When we got home, I babysat for a parent who's child was in my class. My kids loved it and kept her occupied while I busied myself making 50 cupcakes for the big party. It took forever but they got made. We rented the community pool for the party. I paid enough for 50 people to join the fun. Unfortunately we only had 33 people attend. I wish people would use that RSVP note at the bottom of the invite.That's what it's there for. That left 17 open spots. ARRRG! Alec had a nice time and that's all that matters I guess. He did good. Got the wrestlers he's been wanting and made $100. He was happy.

Well, today is The day of Independence! Outside of Christmas-this is one of the prettiest days of the year! I hate lighting off fireworks-but I love to watch them. I love the smell and the food and the family get togethers on this day!! Nothing can make this day go bad-except rain, and as of right now-It's HOT and sunny!!!!!! I will post pictures later!

I would love to be a kid again. To enjoy all the simplicity's life brings. If only we really listen to our parents while growing up and not take childhood for granted! On the up side of things- I love being a MOMMY and I love everything it entails, like; hosting sleepovers! I have extra children probably every weekend. I love watching kids play. The imaginations they have are amazing. Tonight, we have a cousin staying over; my claimed weekend daughter! All three are playing "Chefs" and inventing their own restaurants. Addie named hers "Chamberlain Tile" (After our baseball team) and Alec and Izzy named theirs " Roots and Veggies"! How funny their little brains work! Addie told me I HAD to order something fancier than Chicken and potatoes. "Corn Al a King" and a "cheesy pretzel" it was! I decided I was hungry for this new recipe I found on some one Else's blog. A chocolate chip Oreo Cookie! (Basically consisted of Chocolate Chip cookie dough-pre packaged and Oreo cookies. Make 2 patties and insert Oreo in the middle then fold the dough around). I had the kids help me, since they are indeed the Chefs!

Can one really be older than they are?

I talk about Addie a lot. I know, I need to focus on Alec just as much too. And, Yes, I do, but sometimes it's hard not to notice Addie even more. She is not a typical 6 year old little girl. She acts much older, wiser. She was in the top percentile of her Kindergarten class. Achieving higher than first grade levels. MY daughter, who is only 6. Is this a good thing? I know one thing, it's kind of scary for me. She does not like playing with kids her own age. She can be surrounded by kids her own size and then that one person of higher maturity, and where do you find her, Yep, right there, with that older person. Boy or Girl. She probably has every toy you can think of-yet she plays with none. You walk into her room, or wherever shes at, and you will see a book in one hand, attempting to read and a pen in the other, scribbling anything her mind lets her. Any conversations and facial expressions are far more mature than most little girls I know. Maybe this is the new thing for this day and age but I am a little nervous about it. Shoot-I played barbies until probably 13-when, I then, quickly set into "Adulthood". But tonight, Alec stayed at a cousins house and Addie was home with us. My neighbor girl has been begging to stay the night for along time now. She's autistic-but I love her. She's 10-in fact, just turned 10 yesterday. But, her sickness has obviously held her back a little. Thus-she acts "younger". She doesn't interest Addie at all. She comes over quite a bit. Most of the time, uninvited and walks right through the door, but, I chuckle every time (if Dan and I are ever alone, we better lock the door..j/k). She loves Addie's room. She can be in there for hours so content, we forget shes there. Well, tonight was perfect because, Addie has not been herself since the surgery, so shes calm and collective. The meds are wearing her out so shes a normal 6 year old(outside of sleeping alot). Addie has actually been paying attention the the neighbor girl all night! My daughter, is the pickiest eater I have ever meet, and compared to me this is rare! She hates bread, but loves peanut butter. Tonight, she is hungry. Sick of eating the same Ole soft foods she has been eating for nearly a week. The girls decided on PB sandwiches. I wanted to make this fun so Addie would eat bread again after today, Ah ha..cookie cutters. I gave each girl a cookie cutter and let them make their own sandwiches. I am in heaven. Does it really take getting tonsils out to be a normal 6 year old who is willing to eat bread. In any essence, this is another pro added to the list in helping me ease the pain before getting this massive bill I am about to receive!

The Joy Of Sundays

As much as I love TV I hate it at the same time. I watch the food channel all to much. I love food. I love sweet foods. I could kill for a moist chocolate cupcake with "real" frosting right now. Can you guess what I am watching? Cake Boss...these guys can really make awesome cakes, and man they look so delish! My mom can make a killer cake too. She is really a talented person-I wish she would use this to her advantage, my advantage! This TV however, was a life saver the other night though! Alec has his Buddie stay the night and they were bored. These boys are almost 8, so what can they really do. Addie, is still in recovery mode so like I normally do, I can't take them anywhere. Watch TV, that's what they ended up doing. It was about 10 pm, this mama was tired. I was laying on couch and the boys were flipping through "NETFLIX" and found a show "Opposite Day" It was kinda funny but a bit boring as I was dozing off. They were laughing. It made me laugh watching them. Then it dawned on me. I seen a show as I was flipping through it earlier. A show I watched when I was younger and I laughed through the entire show. "Problem Child" So I encouraged them to watch it. Best move we made that night. They laughed so hard. Over and over. I think they like it! Well enough to watch "Problem Child 2" right after. They laughed just as much. It may have been a late night, but it was worth it to see how much fun they were having. Normally, I would have been bummed when Sunday came, for this means, I spend then whole day cleaning. Sure I can do it all week long too, but for some reason, by Sunday, it needs it even more, but this Sunday didn't bother me. I have the whole week off. With Addie having her tonsils out, I was blessed with the entire week off, WITHOUT anything I HAVE to do. So call this a REAL vacation. I actually used my time well. I played with my kids-sure I play with my kids alot, but I ACTUALLY played with them. Addie and I played "house" and "Barbies". How I wish I was a kid again. Alec and I watched a show together and played some x-box. It was nice to take that breath and not worry about playing catch up. Ah- the Joy of Sunday! I caught a picture of each of them taking a nap, all at the same time.

Yep, even this big kid. His love is for Sundays. Naps, sports, Naps. Sports. How lucky can one person get. Anywhoo, Addie has been doing OK since the surgery. I think she is bored more than she is in pain. She is a real active "go getter" and having to take a break to relax and keep everything on the DL is killing her inside. One minute shes up and the next down. She's a trooper though! Her sleep schedule is way messed up however. Wow, when we are sleeping, or trying to, she's awake and when we are awake she's sleeping. I really hope this can straighten out before I return to work. Fingers crossed! Alec and I have been thinking alot about his birthday coming up. July 1. He will officially be 8. Wow-definitely doesn't seem like that long ago. He has grew up so much. We have it narrowed to these two options. Pool party at the local pool, or at the Movie theatre. Both similar in price. We have done the pool thing a few times. Everyone loves to swim, so we have a big turn out. I just want to do something a little different. Idk, less than a week to figure it out. Dan is so funny when he sleeps. He gets so deep. Alec was asking him what channel WWE was on, and he just drifted off, so you wouldn't think he would be so deep into his sleep. Dans answer " rectangle, square, octagon". Ha ha. It was funny. Well another Ball game tonight. Addie didn't get to play, so Dan took Alec and I stayed behind with her. I've been pacing the floors with excitement waiting for them to return. I hate having to miss games. Alec's hates it when we miss too. Man-I hate waiting.

Is there any such truth to Peace and Quiet?

I know I probably stress on our lives being "busy" but I swear that's what it is. I cant really recall what events occurred on Monday( either old age or memory loss) however, on Tuesday, we had baseball which can't come fast enough for us! Both the kids seem to enjoy the sport and now that we are playing "coach pitch" we seem to have the love for it more. It's honestly Peaceful to sit outside and cheer the kids on as they are playing their little hearts out! At one point, little miss Addie even blew me a kiss from the field. Everyone in the stands laughed, it was priceless! After each game, we find ourselves at "Wal-Mart" and as funny could be one of the players from our team "Aiden" and  his family, seem to unknowingly meet us there. Now, it has turned into a fun little game "who can beat who there". So far, we have the lead! Wednesday came, kids went to their dads so Dan and I went to yet again, our second home, Wal-mart, since we live there just as much. Dan is going to A nascar race, for the WHOLE WEEKEND! (Yessss! PEACE AND QUIET) so we had a few things to get! We always spend so much money in that store. I feel like we work just to support them. A few years ago i bought some cheap Capri cargo pants there and I FELL IN LOVE! I mean, these were NO doubt my favorite pair of ANYTHING really! I rarely ever by clothing there( or at all) for they never fit right and sizes always run funny. Well, they ripped, right in the ASS! Man, was I ever butt hurt. For some reason, i decided to look for some just like it. Up and down every rack, nothing. So what did I do, I settled, settled for some other cheap cloth Capri mesh pants, which then led to other shopping,which then led to the $100 dollars we spent. UGHH! Thursday came and We had a Doctor appt for Addie's tonsils. Just a check up before the removal of her tonsils. Well anyone  tat works during the day, knows you have to take some time off. That's just what I had to do. Big deal right? Yea, in fact it was. We get all the way over to the other side of town, through busy traffic(like 15 min worth)just to get there and find out they moved the appt to "tomorrow" which was Friday. Man Oh man, was I mad. Not only did i waste my gas but took time off work. Then the kids realized, thankfully right when we walked out, that "tomorrow" was my works "ZOO" trip and we wouldn't get to go. So we had to reschedule the dam appt for the following Tuesday, which in turn was more gas and more time off! Grr!  After all said and done, we had another ball game! It was, yet again, Peaceful! On to Friday!!! 4:30am-Dan leaves for KC! Who would ever be so excited to have their significant others gone for a weekend! ME-yes me! I was definitely looking forward to a weekend without constant Bickering, TV, Beer, or whatever else satisfies the man! (Love u babe) Then 8 am-we packed up about 90 kids and 12 teachers and headed for the Zoo! 2 hours later, after sitting on a charter bus, we were able to roam free(with our group of coarse). There was Me and one other adult and 12 kids in our pack. Not too hard right? Well, gees Louise..would one person ever imagine so many little feet so upset and hot and tired and literally ANYTHING else you could feel. We had to stop and sit down more than we had to walk. Oh well, my two had fun! Saturday-wow was i hurting. I have no clue what happened, but man oh man, i was working on MAYBE 2 hours of solid sleep due to a massive headache. And guess what, someone took all the asprin to KC with him. For one who really needed it, was not about to wake 2 kids up in the middle of the night , so i suffered. Man, morning didn't come fast enough either. Off to Wal-mart we were! We had a ball game at noon, so it kind of worked out, for it was our turn for treats! What a good ball game it was too. Alec played 3rd base and was so good at going after the ball. He was maybe 1 second away from tagging someone out! (For him, this was big Big BIG!) I then took them to MC Donald's, MY favorite place when Dan is out of town!(He doesn;t like it much) Would you know it, when we got home, all three of us TOOK A NAP. Wow, are you serious, yes, a 2 and a half hour nap! It was awesome! We layed around the rest of the night! Sunday came, well, every mother knows what this day feels like I am sure. Cleaning day-yuck! After cleaning most of the day, I took the heathens-yes- I say that for this is what they were ALL day long, to a "promised" mommy/daughter/son day to the movies. We went to see "HOP" a movie about the "Easter Bunny", Kind of cute and funny, but a bit boring too! A large bucket of Popcorn, large nachos, and a large pop later, we head home! A short hour later, we greeted Dan from his "short" trip and headed to bed! Monday came then Tuesday, off to the doc, and wow-wee! The office was full of people. This may have been the busiest I have ever seen this place. Appt time was 2:10 and of coarse you are always to come about 10 min early for that fun paperwork or whatever, 2:50 we finally get in. WHOA! Everything went well. Doc has released Addie to get her tonsils out on Thursday. I'm kind of sad and nervous. This is a major thing for us. Wednesday came, baseball! I'm telling you, we live for game days! For the first time this season, Alec had to hit off the Tee. Man, did I have one upset little boy:( He was so sad. He was so proud to be one of the ONLY kids who did not have to hit of the tee the whole season, and today was the day. Poor kid. I felt so bad for him. But really, was it his fault? Not to say anything bad about the pitcher, but was he throwing the ball good? Not tonight. I really believe that. We decided to let Addie pick where she wanted to eat and ANYTHING she wanted to eat for this might be the last night she really eats anything for a week or so. She picked 'Billy Boys" to my advantage too because I like that place! She ate chicken strips and fries. Then she ate 6 cupcakes at home, a bag of M&M's, a Popsicle, some chips and whatever else she wanted. Now, we are at Today, Thursday-June 9th 2011. Addie gets those nasty tonsils out today. I was so nervous. Maybe more than her. We met at same day surgery center. Checked in anticipated waiting for the procedure to start. The staff was amazing though to say the least. Everyone of them. Both Alec and Addie got a Giant color book and crayons. SWEET! Then they both got a Surgery T-shirt. SWEET again. Then we as parents got "FREE" panara bread bagels. ..sweeet! (lets wait for the bill when we get it!) Wow, we sat for a bit in the recovery room. Addie got all ready, hospital jammies..anesthesia and she was off. We had to sit in waiting room until it was over. It went really fast, then we were back in the recovery. She is a trooper to say the least. She got to take her "sleepy" mask home and a little stuffed horse, which, just now, she named "brownie". Wow-did they say bad breath or what..woooow weee. 3 weeks of it. Good thing for Popsicles...10 down, 100 to go! Lets see what tomorrow brings!

Happy Memorial Day! Quote me on this one but NEXT YEAR, we WILL be making the best of our 3 day long weekend. For some reason, we always find ourselves eager to help someone, which in turn, leaves us with 11 or so hours before returning to our normal habitat, and 8 of those hours are indeed, needed for some of us around here! So, here I sit ranting and raving about it, but, really people, your right, it gets me absolutely, NO where! My day, however, did have a lot of memorable events!


#1: We learned how to ride our bikes WITHOUT training wheels!(Well, some of us)
#2: We found out about "HOT GUYS" aka Hawk-eyes!(Addie has always called the Hawkeyes "hot guys" and I cought it on video!!)
#3: For the first time probably EVER in my adult life, I spent at least $100 on ME, MYSELF, and I!
#4: I may have a book writer on my hands!
#5:After Dans UN- canning attempts to help me, we are 1 step closer to actually BOOKING our family Vacation!!


We took the kids to the bike path, because, lets face it, ITS ABOUT TIME they learned to ride their bikes like other BIG kids and without training wheels! Addie Is the funniest little lady! She gets sooo mad but she relentlessly kept getting back on and before you know it, well, wait for it, YESSSSS! She got it! She can now ride her bike like a big kid!!!!!As for Alec, ignoble-y feared or however you say it,  may just need another couple days and he should have it too! Now, Alec, wow, this kid is going to be a good book writer, I can just feel it, OK maybe I'm a little biased, but on a serious note, he goes around writing about everything. I bet i woke up to 7-10 different notes or letter this morning alone! If i was in the right state of mind, I would have kept those, but of coarse, leave it to the brainless mother to throw them away:(  To end the night, I am going to post a funny thought I seen on another blog, which has me thinking, and maybe laughing to myself, but if you think about life today, it makes you think about other stuff too...
